How to Bulk Edit Data in Mighty
This guide will show you how to quickly update multiple cases or liens using the Bulk Edit feature in Mighty.
What you can do:
- Edit specific data fields for multiple cases or liens at once.
- Save time by avoiding individual edits.
- Listed below are the fields that are Bulk Editable based on each category:
Note: Executive Level Access has the Bulk edit tool by default. Kindly reach out to Mighty support if you need the Bulk Edit feature added to other staff members.
Steps:
-
Access the tool
-
Click the gear icon beside the search bar and choose “Data Admin”
-
Choose “Bulk Edit” in the tools available to your account
-
Click the gear icon beside the search bar and choose “Data Admin”
-
Download the Template:
- Decide whether the data point(s) you are seeking to edit is a lien-level field or a case-level field. If you aren't sure, you can review the drop-downs in the tool and it will show you all available fields.
-
Choose the specific data fields you want to change. The Existing Case ID or Existing Lien ID is auto-selected since you’ll need this to map your data to which case or lien the update will go to.
- Click "Download Template" to create a CSV file with these chosen columns. You can select more than one field at a time. So if you want to change both your DOB and law firm for the client, you can choose both. However, lien fields and case fields cannot be edited on the same template. You must use separate CSV files.
-
Prepare Your Updates:
- You will then need to obtain the Case ID or Lien ID for the cases you are seeking to update.
-
To get existing Case or Lien IDs, use the Export feature in the "Reports" tab. This will help you identify the cases/liens you want to edit.

- Open the downloaded report file and extract the Lien or Case ID
-
In the downloaded template file, you may want to add the corresponding first and last name of the plaintiff for your reference to ensure you are adding the correct case, and then remove them prior to import. Once done, fill in the next column with either the Lien or Case ID. The short version is what’s needed for the Bulk Edit tool. Here’s an example if you wish to update the Funding Date for three of your existing liens in the software:
-
Fill in the data you want to update for each case/lien, ensuring you include information for every chosen column in Step 2
- Important: Leaving a column blank will erase existing data for that case/lien. Make sure to enter accurate edits.
-
Upload and Review:
-
In the Bulk Edit interface, click "+ New Import"
- Attach the CSV file containing your edits and include a label to your import.
-
In the Bulk Edit interface, click "+ New Import"
-
- Ensure that you choose the correct template, depending on what information you’re updating through the tool.
-
- A preview of your changes will be displayed. Carefully review this to confirm it matches the edits you intended
-
Finalize the Edits:
- If the preview looks good, confirm the import. Mighty will update your cases or liens based on the information in your CSV file.
-
A record of this update will be added to the activity feed of each affected case/lien.
- Please note the system will only note that case details were updated, not which specific field was updated. The prior value that was replaced will not be stored or noted.
Remember:
- Be sure your data is accurate before uploading the CSV file.
-
Leaving columns blank will erase existing data, so fill them in carefully.
- For example, You’re using the tool to edit the DOB and State of Incident for 100 cases. However, if you leave the DOB box blank for two of the cases, the system will wipe out the data that was previously stored for that client’s DOB. Make sure to generate and export a report first from the Reports tool to get the necessary ID. The Bulk Edit tool cannot function without either the Case ID or the Lien ID as identifiers.
- It’s important to know which IDs are used to fill in the Bulk Edit file
- For case-level edit, the short Case ID is used
- For lien-level edits, the short Lien ID is used
- REVERSAL OF IMPORT - Users are unable to revert any imports done within the software so please be sure to review all data thoroughly prior to pressing submit in the interface. Should you need to revert an import, please send an email to our Support Team and your request will be accommodated as promptly as possible. There will be a charge to perform data reverts per the hourly support rate outlined in your funder software contract.
If you need to bulk edit other data points, let the Support Team know by sending an email to support@mighty.com. Please note that adding them to the CSV sheet without letting the Support Team know will return an error during your import process.
